Yoga for Better Sex

Yoga is not only healthful, but certain poses can help you have better sex.
In ancient times yogis practiced celibacy so that all of their energy could be directed toward spiritual advancement. Makes you wonder: How could these supposedly wise guys have gotten it so wrong?

Today yoga lovers are finding that more time on the mat means more-and steamier-time spent reveling in their newly toned bodies. To take a walk on yoga's carnal side, add these moves to your routine. Or just do them by themselves to turn up the heat. Read more

How to Open the Sushumna Central Channel

Opening the central channel is one of the goals of Tantric practice. This post from Meditation Expert explains the process.
Today I want to explain a little about opening up the central channel, called the "zhong mai" in Chinese and "sushumna" in India yoga, and introduce to you a tantra for achieving it. Indian yoga tantric practice and Tibetan Buddhism both emphasize opening up this channel because without it you cannot get samadhi. Actually, it's relatively easy to open up the central channel, but hard to open up the heart chakra. You can get samadhi and cultivate the samadhi and dhyana without opening up the heart chakra but to really get the Tao and what is termed "enlightenment," you need to open up the heart chakra. Otherwise you cannot see the Tao but are just a samadhi cultivator. So let's discuss that process. Read more

Two Tantric Techniques for Ejaculatory Control

Tantra teaches us that for a man to achieve the highest ecstasy possible for himself and his lover, he first needs to learn ejaculation control.
According to studies, around 70 percent of women do not reach an orgasm during intercourse. Why? One reason may be that the man does not know how to properly stimulate her, so she never really becomes aroused enough to climax. Another reason is that he ejaculates before she has time to to reach climax.

Two Tantric techniques for ejaculatory control will allow you to last long enough for her to climax. Use masturbation to practice these exercises before trying them with your partner. It will take most men several sessions to master each one. Even the most sympathetic wife or girlfriend will get tired of being used for "training." Read more

Women's Tantric Breathing and Orgasm

Women who don't orgasm easily often hold their breath as they get more aroused. As they approach a kind of transition stage on the way to peak arousal, say a 7 or 8 on a scale of 10, they will often hold their breath, and then nothing happens. Suzie Heumann, founder of Tantra.com, explains how to overcome this habit.

Tantra and Miracles

A reader at Living Tantra asks this question: "I wonder why there is so much emphasis on miracle powers when describing tantra, when that isn’t the point. Even in books that purport to discuss the spiritual path, there can be this emphasis. I am thinking of Autobiography of a Yogi, for example. Yogananda says that miracle powers are not the point, and yet a good portion of the book describes various people and their miracle powers.?" Shambhavi answers:
Many people desire to have a “peak experience” that will soften their feelings of isolation. We search for these peak experiences in sex, food, drugs, religion and in our spiritual practice or from our Gurus.

The desire to be saved attracts a lot of people to lineages in which teachers give shaktipat as a regular practice. We can become spiritual experience junkies just as we can become sugar or heroin addicts. Read more

What Is Tantric Sex?

What is Tantric sex? It seems to have become a synonym for prolonged lovemaking in the popular media, but that definition begs the question: why prolong lovemaking?
Tantra is different from western ideas about sex in some other important ways. The western concept of sex is like a story with a clear beginning (sexual excitement), middle (penetration), and end (orgasm). This is the way it’s supposed to be and if you don’t follow the story, something is wrong. Sex without penetration is often viewed as being "not real” or “merely” foreplay.

In Tantric sex the point of sex is not orgasm, the point is to feel. There is no clear cut beginning middle or end. Most of the exercises related to Tantric sex involve slowing things down, trying not to focus on our external body, or orgasm, or anything outside of our experience of the moment. Read more
