To some extent, the process of mating belongs to the body and the mind. The soul cannot mate with anything, nor does the soul need a mate because it is absolute and boundless. Only what is limited needs a mate in order feel a little better.
If you choose a mate because you want your body to feel a little better, we call that sexuality, and it can be quite beautiful. If we choose a mate because we want our minds to feel a little better, we call that companionship. If we want our emotions to feel better, we call that love. Read more
Tantra teaches that lovemaking between a man and woman, when entered into with awareness, is a gateway to both sexual and spiritual ecstasy.

Such a brilliant and wise article! We should be teaching this to our children, instead of allowing marketers to implant the opposite.
Thanks for posting this article... it's just what I needed.
I think there is such a thing as a soul mate, however, I would say that it is not so much soul mate as true love. What do I mean? Well, I think there are many people in relationships who don't truly love the partner they're with. The relationship is one of compromise and if the truth be known some element of dissatisfaction. The commonly held belief that you need to work at a relationship is rubbish. Love should be unconditional. It shouldn't need "if she does this, then I will do that!" We should give of ourselves freely and without limit or consideration of cost.
I am married to someone who I need to be with every second of the day. She feels the same, yet neither of us have ever felt like this before! Why? Because it's as I have alluded to, there is no compromise. Our love is easy. I don't have to think, nor does she, we just do and both of us are ecstatically happy. Of course we had criteria, both of us had mental lists of what we wanted in a partner. Both of us would be considered stunning, but the looks only start the relationship off. We both love everything the other has. To have a successful relationship you should be as alike as possible. Both of you should be intellectual equals. You should be emotional equals. You should be looks equals. There cannot be any room for "I wish she...." or "I wish he..." In todays profligate and permissive society, any room for even the slightest discontent will eventually end in tears.
Trust me, I went out with nearly 40 women before I met the perfect girl. All of those women were gorgeous, but none of them had the inner beauty that I sought too. Now I am married to the most amazingly beautiful woman I have ever seen and everyone who sees her always says "wow". Yet they can see how much in love we are too. If you're single, don't listen to the people who don't believe the perfect partner doesn't exist. They do, you just have to be willing not to compromise.
We have an amazing sex life. We can't keep our hands off each other and for the last 6 months we have been at it a minimum of twice a day and an average of 4 times a day. Neither of us have ever had this before, but it's because we give ourselves completely. The secret of true and everlasting love is always putting the other person first. If you focus on your own happiness you will never find it. Trust me, from someone who has everything anyone could ever want.
