Interview with a Tantric Master: What Is Tantra?

This interview with Tantric Master Prem Pranama occurred in the summer of 1994. What is Tantra?
Tantra is the hot blood of spiritual practice. It smashes the taboo against unreasonable happiness; a thunderbolt path, swift, joyful, and fierce. There are many different types of paths. Some touch you like a gentle spring rain, but Tantra is the wild summer thunder storm churning with creation, destruction, bliss and emptiness. Tantra is a wild mother tiger - if you approach her with right motivation, right intention, and integrity, she'll suckle you at her breast; but if you come to her in a sloppy way, she'll rip apart your body-mind, eat you for dinner, and shit out what's left.--DynamicBrain

How to Have an Energy Orgasm

Annie Sprinkle explains how to have an energy orgasm, but why bother to learn the practice?
Energy orgasms will clear the body of repressed emotions, old hurts, and blocks. They put a bounce in your step. Energy orgasms help pre-orgasmic women to become genitally orgasmic and help genitally orgasmic women to become much more multi-orgasmic ("megagasmic"), plus they make partner sex more ecstatic and fulfilling. It's safe sex, a good substitute for harmful addictions, and a great party trick! Energy orgasms can be an extremely spiritual experience, giving you a sense of the forces of creation rushing through you, a sense of going beyond the body/mind, reminding you who you are beyond your everyday reality.--Tantra.com

As Annie says, the energy orgasm technique is based on the Fire Breath Orgasm, taught by Harley Swiftdeer of the Deer Tribe. I personally take with a grain of salt Harley Swiftdeers's claim that the Cherokees would do fire breath orgasm in their ceremonies and that it was an important part of sex education and healing, but it doesn't really matter since the technique works.

ABC Reporter Attends Tantric Sex Workshop

An ABC reporter has an eye-opening experience at a Tantric sex workshop.
I didn't think I could stare a stranger in the eyes for more than 30 seconds without giggling.

I also couldn't ever imagine wanting to confess my deepest emotional needs to a total stranger.

My perspectives on life and sexuality changed completely when I did these things -- at a recent workshop on tantric sex.--ABC News

Tantra speaks to a deep, often hidden part of us. Even an ABC reporter was able to "get it."

The Dalai Lama on Sex Fantasies

Apparently, even the Dalai Lama, who has been celibate his entire life, has sex fantasies just like ordinary people do.
"Yes yes, sometmes I see some beautiful things, of course, beautiful women, and sometimes I feel something," he admits. "But in the meantime, when I see all the trouble that married people have, I think maybe I am lucky," he says, laughing deep from within his belly.

Suppression of desire, he says, is achieved through training of the mind and his own belief in the homespun widsom that familiarity breeds contempt.

"This is possible, through training, through analytical meditation. Even when you have the most beautiful, most famous woman, after a few weeks, a few months, a few years, your attitude, your feeling will definitely change ... at one time you can feel very much in love, but the same factor can eventually create a lot of unhappiness – that's nature."--The Daily Telegraph

I guess that explains the frequent break-ups among the "beautiful people" in Hollywood.

Tantra in the Workplace

Sex is usually banned in the workplace, but not everyone thinks that's a good idea.
DON'T ban sex in the workplace - encourage it. That's the provocative suggestion from Barbara Carrellas, author of the just-out "Urban Tantra: Sacred Sex for the Twenty-first Century."

She writes: "A law saying 'sexual expression of any kind is inappropriate in the workplace' sets that workplace up for rampant inappropriate displays of sexual expression. Instead of a ban . . . I'd like to see workplace seminars on the conscious use of sex in business."

Carrellas adds that "conscious use of sexual energy" not only helps people be more effective on the job; it also makes the job much more pleasurable."

She suggests: "On your way to work tomorrow . . . do some circular breathing and start an erotic fantasy to get your sexual energy running. [Move] that energy up your body, out your heart center, and into your day. You can even imagine it landing on your boss' desk and coming back to you in the form of a raise. A few moments of sex magic on your way to work can help make your highest hopes a reality."--New York Post

Weaving Sexual Energy Back into Life

Lust has been labeled one of the seven deadly sins, but is lust actually a bad thing?
"Lust is not good or bad in and of itself," says Elsbeth Meuth, an intimacy and relationship coach and co-founder and co-director of Chicago's Tantra Nova Institute. "It can be detrimental if that is the only way you can express yourself, though."

Fortunately, there is tantra.

"Tantra is a great way of getting in touch with yourself and controlling lust," says Freddy Zental Weaver, Meuth's partner and the institute's co-director. "Guys in particular don't realize that their lust is sometimes the only way they express themselves emotionally and sexually."--Chicago Sun-Times

Meuth goes on to outline 5 everyday practices for creating intimacy and love.
