The reason you like gazing into your lover's eyes may be because you used to gaze into your mother's eyes when you were an infant, since this released a comforting brain hormone, which is also stimulated by touches and hugs. And what if those eyes you're gazing into are blue?
Researchers have learned that the brain chemical oxytocin is released through touch between mother-infant and male- female pair bonds. It is released during hugging and pleasant physical touch, and may actually change the brain in a way that helps human social behavior.
Researcher Kai MacDonald says, "That's why oxytocin is sometimes called 'the love hormone.' It's said that the eyes are the window to the soul…they certainly are the window to the emotional brain. We know that the eye-to-eye communication—which is affected by oxytocin—is critical to intimate emotional communication for all kind of emotions— love, fear, trust, anxiety." Read more

Using Kundalini for Healing
Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning either "coiled up" or "coiling like a snake." Kundalini is a psycho-spiritual energy that resides within the body. Greenwoman at Green Rootsdown gives some specific meditative practices for using the kundalini energy for healing.
... In any case, it made me wonder if I’ve ever mentioned that the Basic Tantra meditations can be used for healing your body? So can the Divine Light Invocation meditations and the Purification or Element Breaths. The Tantra meditation is specifically to encourage the kundalini to rise in the body. Encouraging the kundalini to bathe your body will restore balance. It may not cure illness permanently. Some illness is necessary for the soul to grow and evolve and to be the instrument of transition, but even in those instances, kundalini energy will support balance and learning from the illness experience. It is also very helpful for things like this illness I have or for the common cold. It will speed recovery, prevent illness and strengthen the whole immune system when you meditate regularly with it. It is also known to alleviate prostate problems and in some men even eliminate them. Its very good for you in oh so many ways….and besides that? Damn! It feels soooo good to have all the sexy energy rushing around your body. Read more

Does Tantric Sex Have Real Value?
A reader of Penthouse magazine blog asks the following question:
Is tantric sex a bunch of New Age crap or does it have real value? I’ve been with the same girl for a few years and the sex is becoming stale. Recently, she suggested attending a tantric sex workshop together, but I want to know if it’s just another clever extortion of money or if it could put some spark back in our sack. Here is the somewhat surprising (considering the source) answer to this elegantly put question:
Tantra is an ancient Hindu practice that purports to mix meditation and nonorgasmic sex to attain a state of perfect bliss. Tantric skills include different ways of controlling climax to enhance sexual energy and mutual bonding. Practitioners claim that tantric sex can not only significantly improve your physical health, but it can also help create a feeling of inner peace and harmony. Awakening Shakti
One of the most common terms used in Tantra is Shakti. What does this word mean? Shakti represents the female principle of energy and motion without which there could be no manifested universe. Her name means "creative energy and/or "power" in Sanskrit.
According to the philosophy of Tantra, the entire universe is a manifestation of pure consciousness. In manifesting the universe, this pure consciousness seems to become divided into two poles or aspects, neither of which can exist without the other.
One aspect, Shiva, is masculine, retains a static quality and remains identified with unmanifested consciousness. Shiva has the power to be but not the power to become or change.
The other aspect, Shakti, is feminine, dynamic, energetic and creative. Shakti is the Great Mother of the universe, for it is from her that all form is born. Read more
