Touching, Feeling, and the Ancient Art of Sexual Healing

Louise Jury visits a playshop that aims to add some spirituality to people's sex lives.
The pelvic thrusts will not be obligatory. If 150 women at the tantric sex workshop want to sit and talk about it, that is fine.

Tomorrow afternoon, Caroline Aldred with friends Michelle Malka and Jahnet De Lijht will make their contribution to the What Women Want conference at the South Bank Centre in central London. Read more

Sexual Healing: The Male Deer Exercise

The Male Deer Exercise is the best known male exercise from Taoist Chi Kung. It ends premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction and promotes male full-body orgasm.  Reinvigorating sexual energy means regaining the vitality of youth and giving a holistic benefit to your entire system. The Male Deer Exercise, done daily, will provide great benefits to men. They will reinvigorate their sexual energy, stimulate sperm production, exercise the prostate (and promote good prostate health), and reignite their libido.

3 Principles of Sexual Healing

Tantric Healer and Reiki Master Sunyata Satchitanada discusses three principles of sexual healing.
As the "healer" in a sexual healing session, I've found that the central question is: "What applied principles enable the client to have a healing experience and not reinforce or reignite the wounding he/she is endeavoring to recover from?" Here are my thoughts and reflections about the answer.

First, one fundamental understanding for clarity: The client is choosing to have a healing session with the healer because he/she has an expectation/desire to receive a healing experience and is not doing so to meet the healer's sexual, relationship, or intimacy needs. If a healer feels the client is coming to the healer to fulfill the healer's personal needs there is a fundamental flaw present in the session. A healer serves as such for the benefit, growth, integration, fulfillment, healthful well-being of others -it is transpersonal service -not to serve the healer's personal needs. While a healer experiences great satisfaction in being of service and may also benefit from solutions turned up during the session for the client -these are secondary to the prime directive of serving another.

With that in mind, here are three principles I feel are fundamental to serving as a Healer. Read more

Tantra: The Art of Sexual Healing

Evalena Rose tells how, at a time when she was feeling so little pleasure from sex that she didn't care if she ever made love again, a Tantra workshop led to her sexual healing.
... Tantra opens and activates the chakras and, by moving sexual energy through them, brings up whatever blocks true passion. My workshop leaders and dakinis (assistants who come to support sexual healing) created a sacred temple in which I felt safe to explore the pain of being sexually violated as a child, breathing through it to the pleasure beneath. In the exercises I could explode in rage, shake out the blocks, and reclaim a body ravaged by incest and years of reenactment through casual sex. It was amazing to be so accepted with all of my pain, respected and supported for my deep commitment to heal. Read more

Men, Tantra, and Sexual Healing

The first step men need to take to reclaim their sexual power, says Maryse Coté, is to recognize that they need sexual healing. (My post Healing Your Man with Tantric Male G-Spot Massage deals with one aspect of this topic.)
... My purpose here is to explore the many ways how men have also been wounded- such as the lack of sexual initiation, circumcision or social factors- and to suggest some initial steps men can take to begin healing.

I have worked privately with over a thousand men as an instructor of basic Tantric and Taoist practices and as a sexual healer over the last ten years. I have loved many men in my life, including six younger brothers. However, I must admit that it is with a limited confidence that I approach the subject of male sexual woundings because I am not in a man's body. I can't access the same cellular memory as when I talk about women. Nevertheless, I have seen, felt and heard men's woundings and the unnecessary suffering that results from having a penis.

Attempting to understand how a man experiences himself as a sexual being requires that we take a closer look at how we've all been wounded. Read more

Tantric Techniques for Pleasing a Woman

Tantric techniques for pleasing a woman are not simply about where to kiss or lick or rub or how hard or how fast, nor is it about harder, longer erections, says Tantric Practitioner and Sexual Healer Nancy Ibsen.
Improving your ability to please a woman is very like learning to play a musical instrument. It takes practice, patience and experience to make beautiful music. You master the basics before moving on to advanced techniques. Here are some good basic practices for you to start with. Read more

Sexual Healing: The Female Deer Exercise

The Female Deer Exercise is the best known women's exercise from Taoist Chi Kung. It cultivates sexual energy, improves physical vitality and mental alertness, improves sexual enjoyment, and reduces or eliminates many common women's ailments. It is simple to perform, takes only a few minutes, and is very pleasurable.

There are two steps to the exercise: 1) a breast massage and 2) a pelvic contraction called "holding firm," which is similar to a kegel exercise.

The Female Deer Exercise
Sit naked on a flat surface with your legs stretched out before you. Bend one leg and place the heel at the entrance of your vagina so that it presses firmly against your clitoris. If this is not comfortable, then place a hard ball there instead. The pressure should be consistently firm.

Tantra as Therapy: Was Osho Wrong?

I recently corresponded with an Indian doctor on the subject of Tantra as "therapy," so Mark Michaels and Patricia Johnson's critique of Osho's promotion of that idea is timely for me.
Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho) had a profound influence on what is now known as "Tantra" in the Western world. Rajneesh came from an academic background, did not have traditional training in Tantra and was not part of a lineage-based system. He had an extensive textual knowledge and was a very effective popularizer. He fused cutting-edge, Western psychotherapeutic techniques of the 1960s and '70s with Tantric texts and used the phrase "neo-Tantra" to describe his system. He was a controversial figure throughout his life, and he remains one today.

[...]

Many contemporary Tantra teachers were trained by Rajneesh or his disciples, and others have embraced his ideas, at least in part. Rajneesh helped inspire the widely held notion that Tantra is a form of therapy; sometimes this belief extends to Tantric sexual practices and includes the idea that "sexual healing" can be effected through various practices designed to produce emotional release and purge traumas that are often thought to be stored in the genitals. We view these ideas with skepticism. Read more
I disagree with the classical Tantra notion that only healthy, well-integrated people are ready for Tantra, but, on the other hand, expecting Tantra alone to make one healthy and whole is probably unrealistic as well.

Tantra: An Ancient Spiritual Path For Self Healing

Tantra teaches couples how to become more intimate by developing strong physical, emotional, and spiritual connections to their partners. Intimacy is linked with feelings of closeness, safety, and trust, and, according to Dr. Dean Ornish, "I am not aware of any other factor in medicine, not diet, not smoking, not exercise, not stress, not genetics, not drugs, not surgery, that has a greater impact on our quality of life, incidence of illness and premature death from all causes."
... The ancient path of tantra was born out of a realization that when we human beings join our energy together, we have access to a power greater than the sum of our individual parts. Taking that concept one step further, we have gained access to the creative force or life force of the cosmos. The instinct towards the drive for close physical connection is illustrated so beautifully in the story of these just days old twins, these tiny womb-mates.

For many people in our modern society, the word tantra may bring up notions of strange sexual rituals and of a culture that fell to its demise through overindulgence in the physical senses. But in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The tantric path was a path that encouraged balance, love and empowerment in every aspect of life. And as a life affirmative path, it nourished a healthy, and even sacred attitude towards sexuality, since sexuality IS the source of all of our lives. Today, we are flooded with images of sexuality everywhere we look. But is deep soul connected intimacy really happening for many of us? Read more

Sexual Healing and Tantra

What is the truth about sexual healing and its relationship to Tantra?
Tantra is not a method of sexual healing so much as it is a useful tool for bringing about a change of negative or uncomfortable attitudes towards sexuality and becoming more open, relaxed and sexually whole. Tantric practices, among many other things, help to dispel the most common myths and misconceptions about sexuality to establish an intelligent, rational setting for a natural, healthy, more enjoyable sex life. Tantric practices are useful in enhancing sensitivity to simple sensual pleasures, realigning unbalanced energies, and liberating us from unhealthy cultural beliefs regarding sex and sexual pleasure.--YoursDaily.com
